Queen's Head FC supporting Kemp Hospice

Press Release 11/09/08

The Queens Head FC was given the opportunity to support Kemp Hospice this year when a benefactor stepped forward with the money for a new kit.  Usually a team's kit is purchased with money gained from corporate sponsorship, and branded with the company’s logo.  In this case benefactor was keen to remain anonymous and suggested we could use the kit to help promote a good cause.

This is not a new idea; traditionally Barcelona, and more recently Aston Villa, both swapped lucrative sponsorship deals for a more charitable approach to utilising advertising space on their kits.

The Queens Head Public house in Wolverley has traditionally raised money for Kemp hospice through weekly quizzes and by collecting donations.  So the football team knew that the idea of supporting Kemp would be well-received by locals as it was already close to many people's hearts.

The Queens head football club is part of an active local community, they have receive help, funding and support from many locals over the past 28 years and are now committed to giving back wherever possible.  In recent years the club has revived its annual Boxing Day friendly which brings together past and present players to raise a bit of money for local causes, as well as organising a penalty shootout for kids each carnival day and more recently marshalling local fund-raising concerts and helping out at the Red Marley Hill Climb.

Although the Club is not expecting to raise a vast amount of money for Kemp Hospice, it is keen to help out as much as possible while trying to raise the profile of the local Charity.  This does not just mean by proudly wearing the new kit but by being active in promoting the cause where ever possible.

A Kind Donation

Queen's Head football clubwould like to thank Trev and Proline Pipes for there kind sponsorship of £100.00.
The money will be put towards the provision of match quality balls when we play our home matches.
